PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the contact quantities of respective cleaning members to proper values corresponding to the distance between the ink discharge orifice forming surface of a recording head and the recording surface of a recording medium even if the distance is altered. SOLUTION: The contact quantities of the wiping portions of wiper blades 80, 90 to an ink discharge orifice forming surface 58S are respectively set to about 1.2 mm and about 0.7 mm, for example, in such a case that the distance between the ink discharge orifice forming surface 58S of a recording head 58 and the recording surface of paper Pa is relatively narrow. These values contain a common difference of±0.3 mm.
