A tension control system and a tension control method are provided to increase reliability, convenience, and stability thereof by digitalizing an operation and a display thereof. A tension control system includes a roll sheet(10), a tension sensor(30), a PLC(Programmable Logic Controller)(50), an electro pneumatic converter(40), a disk brake(20), and a knife drum roll(80). The roll sheet is rolled up on a roller. The tension sensor is installed having a certain gap from the roller for sensing tension of the roll sheet. The PLC embeds a processing circuit. The processing circuit receives a signal transmitted from the tension sensor, drives entire tension control system, and processes the signal. The electro pneumatic converter receives the signal transmitted from the processing circuit and continuously controls air pressure. The disk brake brakes by using the air pressure of the electro pneumatic converter. The knife drum roll cuts off the discharged roll sheet as a predetermined size.
