<p>The mfr. of a mixed prod. comprising a vulcanised rubber compsn. coated with a solidified polymer involves (i) treating the surface of a vulcanisable rubber compsn. pref. with a chemical reagent, e.g. trichloroisocyanuric acid, Na dichloroiscyanurate, an alkyl hypohalogenite, or an acidified inorganic hypohalogenite, or an acidified inorganic hypohalogenite, or with ultraviolet radiation; (ii) vulcanising the rubber compsn.; then (iii) applying a polymeric material to the vulcanised rubber compsn., and solidifying the polymer. The polymeric material and/or the rubber compsn. can be reinforced by a (non)woven textile material, e.g. polyester, aromatic polyamide, nylon, glass or metal. Pref., the chemical reagent is applied in non-aq. medium e.g. in an organic solvent. Pref. the vulcanisable rubber compsn. is based on a non-satd. rubber contg. >5, partic. >15 unsaturated bonds per 100 C atoms of the principal chain. It is pref. based on a non-polar rubber e.g. natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, polychloroprene rubber, or their mixt.</p> |
