A door check arm for motor vehicle door arresters is pivotably articulated, on the one door fixture part, door or door pillar, about an axis parallel to the hinge axis of the door, but not identical to the said axis, and is provided with brake and holder ramps formed transversely with respect to its plane of movement. The said door check arm passes through a holder housing which is mounted on the other door fixture part and has brake and holder rollers which lie opposite one another, are spring-loaded and interact with the brake and holder ramps of the door check arm. The brake and holder ramps of the door check arm are arranged at different angles in relation to its general longitudinal course, and are in particular aligned with respect to a centre point migrating about the hinge axis along an orbit lying opposite the hinge axis with respect to the axis of articulation of the door check arm. <IMAGE>
