COATINGS BASED ON THERMOPLASTIC POLYESTERS WITH ADDITION OF AN UNSATURATED POLYESTER AS ADDITIVE RESIN

Disclosed is an epoxy resin-free coating composition based on a thermoplastic polyester. The composition contains an unsaturated polyester which is incorporated to promote adhesion. The unsaturated polyester preferably comprises a condensation product of fumaric acid, isophthalic acid and 1,2-propanediol. A process for preparing the coating composition, and a method of coating a food packaging or a metal substrate with the coating composition are also disclosed.
