A network security device and a method for processing packet data by using the same are provided to allow a host to stably process packets without hardware restriction. A network security device includes a classification policy providing module(32), at least one host(40,42,44), and a packet classifying and providing module(36). The classification policy providing module(32) has packet classification policy such that packets are classified. The host(40) includes a CPU and a memory. The host(40) processes a packet classified according to the packet classification policy. The packet classifying and providing module(36) classifies packets introduced into a network according to the packet classification policy and provides the packets to a corresponding host.
