The present invention relates to an ethylene gas absorbent with improved efficiency of removing ethylene gas and a method for producing the same. The ethylene gas absorbent with improved efficiency of removing ethylene gas of the present invention is produced by storing a potassium permanganate (KMnO_4) solution in porous silica, wherein the KMnO_4 solution is produced by dissolving KMnO_4 in water with a temperature of 70 to 100C, and the porous silica is calcined silica which is calcined at a temperature of 400C to 800C to remove bound water in the silica. Accordingly, the ethylene gas absorbent with improved efficiency of removing ethylene gas of the present invention uses the calcined silica which is calcined to remove bound water at a specific temperature as a carrier for KMnO_4 which acts as a catalyst in a reaction of removing ethylene gas, thereby improving efficiency of removing ethylene gas by promoting the activation of materials contained in a structure as the porous structure of the silica which is capable of absorbing a large amount of moisture is not changed while the bound water is removed from the silica. Thus, the absorbent resolves the problem of prior art by early and effectively removing the ethylene gas and oxygen which are generated from foods and contained in the wrapping paper to improve preservability of the foods. |
