PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly corrosion-resistant R-Fe-B bond magnet, which is improved in corrosion resistance with a conductive metal film which coats a magnet, formed in various shapes, such as ring-like shape, disk-like shape, etc., and can be easily electroplated and a method by which the magnet can be manufactured efficiently through highly efficient uniform forming of the conductive film with high bonding property. SOLUTION: An R-Fe-B bonded magnet is barrel-polished in a dry state with a barrel device by the use of metallic pieces composed of Sn, Zn, Pb, Cd, In, Au, Ag, or their alloys having Vickers hardness of 80 or smaller and having required dimensions and nondefined shapes, such as spherical shapes, massive shapes, needle-like shapes (wire), etc., as a medium. Consequently, the very small pieces of the ground metal coat the surfaces of resin, pores, and magnetic powder on the surfaces of the magnet, with some of the pieces being press-fitted in the pores. Therefore, the corrosion resistance of the magnet can be improved, the magnetic characteristic of the magnet is deteriorated less, because an extremely uniform conductive film can be formed on the surface of the R-Fe-B bonded magnet, and the magnet can be electroplated in good state. |
