PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary connector with good fitting workability and excellent handing property, hardly generating operation errors. SOLUTION: The rotary connector 11 comprises a socket connector 12 having a first connector part 17, a plug connector 13 having a second connector part 29, a cylindrical case 21 detachable from the socket connector 12, housing and holding the plug connector 13 which is enabled to move back and forth freely toward one opened end side along the center axis line, and a rotary operation member 24 mounted to the other open end of the cylindrical case 21, enabled to relatively rotate around the center axis line. Between the plug connector 13 and the rotary operation member 24, a cam mechanism 40, enabling the first and second connector parts 17, 29 to fit or separate by making the plug connector 13 move back and forth against the cylindrical case 21 by the rotary operation of the rotary operation member 24, is constructed. The cam mechanism 40 has a cam grove 46 for right-hand tarn and a one 47 for left-hand turn.
