AN ELASTICALLY DEFORMABLE INSERT FOR A VEHICLE TIRE CASING FOR SUPPORT WHEN THE CASING IS DEFLATED An elastically deformable member to be inserted in the cavity of a vehicle tire to support the tire if it is punctured and deflated. The insert member has at least one annular band, which, at atmospheric pressure, is in a stretched condition in the direction of its own circumferential development. A plurality of closed hollow bodies are connected to the radially external surface of the band and are aligned with one another for the entire development of the surface whereby the interfacings of the contiguous bodies are in contact with each other. The closed hollow bodies contain a gaseous fluid at a pressure above atmospheric pressure and not more than the tire inflation pressure. The tension on the band varies with variation in the inflation pressure. |
