The frame rim is composed of one or more components. The surface limited by the periphery of the bottom (5) is greater than that limited by the periphery of the top (4). The frame components (7-9) are inclined and in cross-section are straight, concave or convex. They are staged, with one or more stages. The difference between the width of the base and that of the top is constant over the complete periphery. Alternatively, the difference between the width of the bottom and the width of the top over the complete periphery continuously increases or does so in stages or continuously decreases or does so in stages. The bottom or the top are formed asymmetrically to the longitudinal axis (10) of the stringed instrument.
