PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase three primary-color lights reflection diffraction efficiency and to view a light full-color image by arranging hologram arrays which have diffraction wavelength selectivity and reflect and diffract lights with wavelength distribution of red, green, and blue of an incident light on the same plane in matrix. SOLUTION: HCF is constituted by arranging the hologram arrays which have diffraction wavelength selectivity and reflect and diffract the colors of red, green, and blue on the same plane almost in matrix on a base material positioned on the left side of a liquid crystal panel. A circumferential light is made incident at an angle αfrom the right side of the display device and reaches the HCF after passing through the liquid crystal panel, and lights of the colors corresponding to the hologram arrays are reflected and diffracted and pass through the liquid crystal panel again, so that they are viewed as display colors by an observer. When the reflected and diffracted lights pass through the liquid crystal panel, the reflected and diffracted lights of the respective colors are made incident on and pass through liquid crystal cells of corresponding colors of the liquid crystal panel. For the incident light, another illumination light source fitted to the display device itself may be used. |
