PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 3-amino-2,2,3-trimethyl butanoic ester with good operability in high yield. SOLUTION: This method is conducted by reacting 3,3,4,4- tetramethylazetidine-2-one with alcohol in the presence of acid catalyst. The alcohol used in the invention is selected based on the objective ester, e.g. a primary or secondary alcohol of e.g. methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, isopropyl alcohol, isobutyl alcohol or secondary butyl alcohol. The use of methanol results in raising the reactivity and facilitating the aftertreatment of the reaction liquid. |
