<p>A candle, esp. for church altars; has a false stem, surmounted by a cap, on which rests a disposable top section, (e.g. of PVC), comprising a transparent cup contg. stearine and a wick. The cup has a bottom flange to maintain an air gap to the cap in order to provide heat insulation and has a base depressed towards its periphery to prevent contact with molten wax. The cap is made to match the stem, and is extended close to top section so that the appearance of a normal candle is maintained when viewed at a distance. By continually renewing top sections, candles are maintained at uniform length, and no cleaning of top sections is involved.</p> |
