The invention relates to nucleic acid molecules which code for a protein having the biological activity of a tumor suppressor. The invention additionally relates to vectors containing these nucleic acid molecules, whereby, in a preferred form, said vectors are suitable for expressing the tumor suppressor in prokaryotes or eukaryotes. The invention also relates to the protein coded thereby or to an antibody which specifically recognizes said protein. Tumors, preferably of the throat-head region, can be detected or a predisposition to such tumors can be established by using the inventive substances.
