An intake pipe (1) of adjustable length is formed by an inner and an outer pipe section (4, 5), arranged concentrically, the said pipe sections (4, 5) being provided with slot-shaped openings (6, 8) of differing pitch so that points of intersection of the two openings (6, 8) permitting the inlet of air result in a level varying as a function of the respective relative swivel position of the two pipe sections (4, 5) and thereby of the respective speed of the internal combustion engine (Fig. 1).
