PURPOSE: To improve the operability of a user as to the use of KANA (Japanese syllabary) and the correction of a font by generating a character string of the old use of KANA and substituting it for an indicated character string. CONSTITUTION: A CPU l performs a start process for reading out a program and data required for an editing process first. Then key input data inputted on a KB 4 is read in and it is decided whether or not the data is a character input. When not, it is decided whether or not the data is a range specification indication. When not, it is decided whether or not the data is a character string substitution indication. When the data is the character string substitution indication, a character string generating process and a character string substituting process are performed; and in the character string generating process, the character string of the old use of KANA corresponding to the range-specified character string is generated on the basis of data stored on a DSK 6 and after the character string of the new use of KANA is replaced with the character string of the old use of KANA, the display output on the DSP 5 is updated. |
