PURPOSE:To execute read of high accuracy by a simple processing circuit by making each picture element of a solid-state image pickup device execute an intermittent photodetecting. CONSTITUTION:A shutter 6 is provided on the photodetecting surface of a solid- state image pickup device 1 on which plural picture elements 2 are provided continuously in one line. This shutter 6 is provided with a rotary plate 7 on which a suitable number of slits 8 are pierced in the radial direction. When the rotary plate 7 is rotated, and the slit 8 passes through the front of the photodetecting face of the device 1, light is regularly reflected by a surface to be image-picked up 3, and light loaded with an optical image of a pattern 4 as an information is inputted instantaneously to the whole of each picture element 2. Subsequently, a scan is executed before the light is photodetected by the device 1, and an information stored with regard to the pattern 4 at the time of photodetecting through the slit 8 is read out as an electric signal from each picture element 2. Subsequently, when the slit 8 passes through the front of the photodetecting face of the device 1, the previous operation is repeated and the pattern 4 is read. |
