PURPOSE:To make the reaction apparatus small-sized and to increase the treating capacity by suppressing the flowing of packing materials and permitting the passage of fluid by means of a presser brought into contact with the upper surface of the packing materials layer. CONSTITUTION:When a fluid is treated by sending the fluid upward into a tubular or a cylindrical body 1 packed with powdered or granulated materials 3, a presser 11 such as wire net is brought into contact with the upper surface of a packing materials 3 layer to suppress the flowing of the packing materials and to permit the passage of the fluid. For example, when highly active reaction catalysts are packed in a tubular reaction vessel to carry out steam-reforming of hydrocarbon, the supply rate of the starting material can be increased, the reaction vessel can be made small-sized, and the treating capacity can be increased by applying the above-mentioned method. |
