PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely cut light from the periphery of the display region, to prevent an unnecessary projected image by leaked light, and to obtain a good image by forming a lightproof film on the inner face of one substrate in the region corresponding to the periphery of the effective display region and disposing a lightproof means on the outer face of the other substrate in the region corresponding to the periphery of the effective display region. SOLUTION: A lightproof film 1 is formed on the surface of a counter electrode substrate 2 facing to a liquid crystal, and a lightproof film 4 is formed on the outside of the other substrate 3. A polyimide resin is applied on the active matrix substrate and rubbed with cotton cloth or the like along a specified direction to align the liquid crystal. A transparent conductive film is formed on the other transparent substrate, and further a metal film is formed thereon. The metal is processed into a specified pattern by photoetching. In this process, the metal at least in the effective display region is removed but left in the periphery of the effective display region to form the light-shielding film 1. A black lightproof film 4 is formed by printing on the liquid crystal panel facing to the active matrix substrate. |
