PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method for treating the whole surface of a core 2 in which fins 1 each consisting of a belt-like thin metal sheet are arranged in parallel with a coating liquid or a treatment liquid. SOLUTION: In the surface treatment method, a coating liquid or a treatment liquid is sprayed on the core 2, the core 2 is vibrated while holding the core 2 so that the direction of the fins 1 is located in the gravity direction in the process of the spraying and/or after the spraying, and the applied coating liquid or treatment liquid is caused to flow down to the lower direction.
