The torque compensation mechanism (1) can be used in conjunction with a diesel engine, the housing of which has a front side engine front cover (27). A crankshaft (5) extends through the housing and outside the cover is a driven disc (7) for an additional machine driven by the crankshaft. A drive disc is provided for a servo pump for transmission of drive power and a further drive disc transmits drive power to an electrical alternating current generator. A double belt is fitted over the three discs and is tensioned by a roller, which is an essential part of the torque compensation mechanism. The driven disc is fixed to the crankshaft in combination with a disc spring (17), a tension screw (19) and an underlay disc. The mechanism has a gearwheel gear (33) for speed increase with a large diameter drive wheel (41) and a small diameter driven wheel (43). The one-piece construction with the small diameter wheel is a reversal shaft (31), connected to the reversal shaft by wedges is a flywheel mass (35).
