1289405 Coffee makers SPERRY RAND CORP 13 Nov 1970 [26 Nov 1969] 54205/70 Heading A4D A coffee maker comprises a serving container 13 having a basket 65 for ground coffee C, a water reservoir 12 heated by a thermostaticallycontrolled heater 38, a valve assembly 42 having a first normally-closed bimetallic valve, which opens when the water in reservoir 12 reaches a temperature of 180‹F. (Œ5‹F.) to allow water above the top of multi-bore tube 48 to pass therethrough and through tube 70 directly to container 13, and a second normally-closed bimetallic valve, which opens at 205‹F. (Œ 5‹F.) to allow water below the top of tube 48 to pass from reservoir 12 via outlet 61 on to an apertured spreader 74 and through coffee C, filter 80 and apertures 78 in the bottom of basket 65, to mix with the water passed to container 13 via tube 48. The tube 48 may be set so that when the reservoir water is level with the top of tube 48 three cupfulls (approximately 18 fluid ounces) of water are in the reservoir. The infusion time for any initial water level in the reservoir at or above the top of tube 48 is about constant at 4-6 minutes. A thermostaticallycontrolled heater 33 maintains the coffee in container 13 at 180‹F. (Œ 5‹F.). |
