The frameless unit comprises the inside pane (3) extending beyond the integral edge frame for an interior flush finish. A spacer profile (4) set inside the edge of the double glazing with adhesive sealant holds the panes apart. A profiled edge strip (10) has an edge which locates in the unit edge and is secured by sealant. The trapped space (64) between the spacer profile and the edge frame is vented. The single layer safety glass used for the outer and inner panes is coated at the edges to hide the sealing frames. The edge of the outer pane is protected by a lipped profile of the edge strip.
