PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a raw material for a hair tonic and a hair tonic composition, having an excellent hair restoring effect and high safety without imparting objectionable stimulation to scalp. SOLUTION: This raw material for a hair tonic is characterized by comprising an extract prepared from Rinacanthus nasutusu. This hair tonic composition is characterized by including the raw material for a hair tonic and is e.g. cosmetics, medicaments or unregulated drugs. Rinacanthus nasutusu is a kind of medicinal herbs belonging to the genus Rinacanthus Nees in the Acantheceae family and is a herb having 50-150 cm height. It is farmed mainly in tropical Africa, India, Thai and Malaysia, and can also be seen in a wild state.
