Relaxation device

The device has an inflatable mattress (1) with a support surface (2) of a flexible material, supplied with compressed air at a variable pressure. The respiration rate of the patient lying on the support surface is detected by a sensor (7) and used to control the air pressure, so that the support surface moves outwards in synchronism with the inhalation phase and inwards with the exhalation phase, with incorporation of a post expiration phase. After a given time interval the pressure control (5) adjusts the amplitude and duration of the post expiration phase, using a stored table of values, for gradual relaxation of the patient.
