CONNECTING METHOD OF HEATER FOR VACUUM DEGASSING VESSEL

PURPOSE:To decrease the generating rate of an arc in the juncture between a graphite connecting member embedded between refractory brick walls and an electric resistance heating body and to extend the life of a heater for a vacuum degassing vessel by using a kneaded carbon member in said juncture. CONSTITUTION:A graphite juncture consisting of a stick 20A and a calotte 20B is embedded between refractory brick walls 18A on one side of a heater and a slidable stick 20A is provided between refractory brick walls 18B on the other side. An electric resistance heating body 22 called ''stub'' is fixed to the top end of the stick 20A and the top end of the stub is fitted and connected to the calotte 20B facing the same. A kneaded carbon member kneaded with a carbon material such as graphite or anthracite or the like and a binder such as a phenolic resin or tar pitch is interposed in the juncture. Even if a locally eroded part is generated in the juncture owing to slag droop, etc., the continuation of the electric current conduction is made possible by using such kneaded carbon member.
