PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively and accurately estimate an optical flow between plural images. SOLUTION: In this optical flow estimation method, space-time derivatives of plural image are used to generate a first graph G1 (step 402), and a solution of a first maximum flow is obtained using the first graph G1 to obtain a first minimum cut (step 404), and a movement direction component 408 is calculated from the first minimum cut (step 406). Next, space-time derivatives of plural images are used to generate a second graph G2 (step 410), and a solution of a second maximum flow is obtained using the second graph G2 to obtain a second minimum cut (step 412), and a movement speed component 416 is calculated from the second minimum cut (step 414). The movement direction component 408 and the movement speed component 416 are combined to estimate the optical flow between plural images. |
