PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain refractories excellent in corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance by including refractory particles mainly comprising melt zirconia particles, dolomite particles and magnesia particles and a specific content of a binder. SOLUTION: The castable refractories are obtained by including 93-99 wt.% refractory particles mainly comprising melt zirconia particles, dolomite particles and magnesia particles and 1-7 wt.% binder. The refractory particles comprises 5-30 wt.% melt zirconia particles and 70-95 wt.% total of the dolomite particles and magnesia particles. The melt zirconia particles are e.g. desiliconized melt zirconia obtained by the desiliconization of zircon or monoclinic melt zirconia containing a glass phase. The dolomite particles preferably contain 5-20 wt.% CaO. The magnesia particles are e.g. calcined magnesia obtained by calcining magnesium hydroxide obtained from seawater or fused magnesia obtained by grinding it. The refractories do not contain chromium oxide and therefore have not a possibility of causing environmental pollution. |
