A soil-engaging anchor comprises an elongated rod and at least one arcuate and twisted blade having a lower end fixedly secured to the lower end of the elongated rod. The blade curves outwardly and laterally of the rod from its lower end to its upper free end. An upper soil-emerging fastener member is capable of receiving a driving and rotating accessory for driving the elongated rod along with the blade into the soil and, after the elongated rod and the blade have been driven into the soil, for rotating the rod about its geometrical longitudinal axis to force the blade into the soil laterally of the elongated rod and thereby fixedly secure the anchor into the soil, and a fastening accessory for fastening an object to be anchored to the soil. In a second embodiment, the blade is arcuate but not twisted, the rod is threaded, and the anchor comprises a sleeve member having an inner threaded surface engaged onto the lower end of the threaded rod. The lower end of the blade is then fixedly secured to the sleeve member. Rotation of the rod about its geometrical longitudinal axis into the sleeve member pulls this sleeve member toward the rod's upper end to thereby drive the arcuate blade into the soil.
