PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially producible polycarbonate resin for an optical film, having low birefringence, high transparency, and a high glass transition temperature, and an optical film. SOLUTION: The polycarbonate resin for the optical film is obtained by carbonate-bonding two constituents of 99-51 mol% of 9,9-bis(4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)phenyl)fluorene represented by formula (1) and 1-49 mol% of bisphenol A with a carbonic diester.
