PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead battery restraining self discharge and reduction of electrolyte with improved life characteristics. SOLUTION: A lattice base material is made of lead alloy or lead which substantially do not contain Sb, and a surface layer of an alloy composition which is different from the lattice base material exists at least on a part of the surface of the lattice base material, and the surface layer is composed of a positive electrode current collector which is a lead alloy layer containing one or more kinds of alkali earth metal within the range of mass% mentioned below, and the content of metallic lead in the positive pole activation material is made 10-40 mass%. Mg: 0.5-7.0 mass% Ca: 0.5-5.0 mass% Sr: 0.5-5.0 mass% Ba: 0.2-3.0 mass%. |
