PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record the same content in an HDD recorder with a format set for each device, when recording music piece data which are read from a CD to a PC 100, with only very simple user operation. SOLUTION: The PC 100 reads music piece data recorded in the CD, and stores it in a HDD 13 with a format for the PC. If it is converted to the format for the HDD recorder 200, it is converted to the format for the HDD recorder 200, and transmitted to the HDD recorder 200. If it is not converted, music piece data of PCM and conversion instruction are transmitted to the HDD recorder 200. The HDD recorder 200 receives the music piece data from the PC and stores it in an HDD 23, but when the conversion instruction is received, the format is converted and stored.
