VIDEO DECODER PROVIDED WITH MULTI-PHASE FINITE IMPULSE RESPONSE HORIZONTAL FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for maintaining and further accelerating the speed of decoding by providing a FIFO data butter, a varaible length code decoder, an inverse quantizer, a discrete cosine transformation inverter, a motion compensation device and a multi-phase finite impulse response horizontal filter, etc. SOLUTION: A variable length Huffman decoder 311 is provided with a chart for decoding a data stream and a local state machine for controlling the decoding of the run/level data of a macroblock and is controlled by a controller 401. Also, the local state machine interacts with the inverse quantizer 321 and processes decoded signals. The inverse quantizer 321 receives run/level encoding symbols from the variable length Huffman decoder 311, outputs the block of a coefficient to be sent to an inverse discrete cosine transformer 331, converts the run/level encoding symbols to zero and symbols, zigzag-cancels data, handles differential pulse code modulation decoding and inversely quantizes the data.
