Method to connect two pipes or tubular components

The method involves the male end (6) of the first pipe being inserted into the female end (1) of the second. The annular gap which is then formed between the two pipes is sealed by a ring (4). On insertion of the first pipe into the second, a sliding ring (5) which covers the sealing ring is moved forwards by the male end of the first pipe. On further insertion, the sealing ring is released from the sliding ring, and is guided over the male end of the first pipe.
