The transfer car comprises a chassis (10) which has at least one upright frame part (12) for supporting the plates on the chassis on their edges. The plates are pivotable about a horizontal swivel axis (a-a) to a flat position. The axis is at a distance from the upper part of a lower accommodation base (18) of the chassis (10). The accommodation receives the edge of the plate.
