In the assembly to reduce metals in water, especially rain water, the collected water is passed to a tank (10) where it is filtered through sacrifice porous concrete plate(s) (18) with a large surface area. The water flows from the inflow (12) to an overflow (14), so that its is in contact with both surfaces of the plate(s). The filtered water passes to a second tank (16), containing a filter unit (24,26).
