PURPOSE: A sluice gate opening and closing apparatus is provided to simplify the opening and closing operation of the sluice gate with minimized manpower by mounting an opening and closing plate which lifts or lowers automatically with relation to a shaft mounted on a fixing plate according to a level of water passing through a watercourse. CONSTITUTION: A sluice gate opening and closing apparatus includes an opening and closing plate(11) for opening and closing an arterial water course according to a level of water passing through the arterial water course, a flotage(12) mounted on a front surface of the opening and closing plate for moving the opening and closing plate according to the water level, a pair of supporting rods(16a,16b) rotatably mounted on shafts(15) of a pair of fixing plates(14) mounted at both upper ends of the arterial watercourse and having an end fixed at upper and lower parts of a rear surface of the opening and closing plate, weights(17) mounted at the other ends of the supporting rods for keeping balance with the opening and closing plate, and a water case connected to a through hole(13) formed on the flotage and the opening and closing plate via a connection hose(19).
