PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the wear of a guide face and to inhibit the looseness of a locking tooth. SOLUTION: The vehicle seat reclining device includes a machine casing 5 connected to a seat cushion; a lid 7 connected to a seat back and having an internally toothed gear 7a on the inner surface; the locking tooth 10 having an externally toothed gear 10d to be engaged with the internally toothed gear 7a; a shaft part 11 and a guide projection 12 to move the locking tooth 10 in the radial direction along the circular trajectory; a cam 9 to lock or unlock the locking tooth 10 by pressing the locking tooth in the radial direction; and a lock spring 14 to urge the cam 9 in the locking direction. Three sets of the locking tooth 10, the shaft part 11 and the guide projection 12 are disposed along the circumferential direction. When the contact areas of the locking tooth 10 with the guide faces of the shaft part 11 and the guide projection 12 are different, the guide faces of the shaft part 11 and the guide projection 12 for guiding a specific locking tooth 10, one of the three sets, are moved at a prescribed angleαin the direction of rotation from a large contact area to a small contact area.
