A process for imparting flame resistance to textile materials which comprises combining a flame retardant amount of a compound of the formula IN WHICH R is aryl or alkyl; Y is -H or lower alkyl; and Z is -H or -CH3 with a textile selected from the group consisting of a cellulosic material, a proteinaceous material, polyethylene terephthalate and blends thereof.
