A given level 26 of the wastewater in the tank is maintained by means, such as weir 20 and trough 21 leading to outlet 22, the ratio of the actual wastewater volume capacity of the ank beneath the level 26 'to the total surface area of the bodies 13 which sweeps through the wastewater being substantially 0.12 gallons per square foot. The discs may be formed of polystyrene foam and may be grouped in sets 11 in communicating compartments defined by walls 17. It is said that the rotating bodies need not be flat discs, as shown, and the flow of wastewater need not be parallel to the rotational axis but may be perpendicular thereto.</p> |
