PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a band-shaped material by attracting the band-shaped material to the peripheral surface of a hollow turn roll by suction hole groups provided on the whole peripheral surface of the turn roll to turn the band-shaped material naturally in accordance with the rotation of the turn roll when the band-shaped material is turned through the turn roll in a narrow drying chamber. CONSTITUTION:A duct 15 where groups of hot air blow-off slits 14 are opened throughout the inside wall surface facing the surface of a band-shaped paper A is incorporated in a drying chamber 1 so that this duct 15 covers the overall length of the running path of the band-shaped paper A from near the leading-in part of the band-shaped paper A in the drying chamber 1 to the circulating part of a turn roll 2. A heater 17 is provided in a cylindrical part 16 formed in the bottom part of the duct 15, and the blow-off hole 19 of a fan 18 is communicated with the cylindrical part 16. A wall part 21 in one side of said hollow turn roll 1 which has both end parts supported through bearings 23 and 23 by a pair of racks 4 and 4 constituting a part of the drying chamber 1 and is rotatable and the air suction hole 20 of the fan 18 are connected by a circulating duct 22.
