Meat and other sausage-filling components fed from a hopper (24) are chopped by a cutter (10) rotating relative to and above fixed apertured disc (18). Chopped meat etc enters an intermediate storage cavity, to be moved by an ejector (12) towards a valve-controlled outlet (4). The apertured disc and a backing support plate are resiliently movable in both axial directions, and for this purpose are mounted in a non-rotatable holder (52). A thermo-sensor (48) monitors the temp of processed material, and is linked with control means (49) by which a selected temp, indicated by a scale pointer can be maintained to secure optimum conditions. Mobile elements are controlled by a resilient ring or a spring. Storage cavity pressure is used to control engagement pressure of rotary cutter on apertured disc.
