<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of achieving both thickness and space reduction and improvement in luminance unevenness of a surface light source device. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source device comprising a light source, a light reflector, and a liquid crystal display element is characterized in that a shield member of ≥70% in total reflection factor and ≤15% in light beam transmissivity to the visible light range is arranged between the light source and liquid crystal display element. In the present invention, a back light type surface light source device can be made thin and less in space, and improved in luminance unevenness. Further, even when a side light type surface light source device has unevenness in a light emission surface distribution from a light guide, the luminance unevenness can be reduced by arranging the light shield member at its light part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
