PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solenoid which can perform a multistep operation and can stably stop a shaft at an intermediate position. SOLUTION: The shaft 16 is inserted into a first movable magnetic pole 11 and a second movable magnetic pole 12 with the magnetic pole 12 being fixed to the shaft 16. When a current is applied to a first coil 20, the magnetic pole 11 moves toward a first fixed magnetic pole 13 until the former comes into contact with the latter. In this case, the shaft 16 is pushed and moved by the magnetic pole 11, allowing the magnetic pole 12 fixed to the shaft 16 to also move toward the side of the magnetic pole 13. When a current is applied to a second coil 21, the magnetic pole 12 moves toward the magnetic pole 11 until the former comes into contact with the latter. In this case, the shaft 16 is also moved further toward the side of the magnetic pole 13. When current application to the first coil 20 or the second coil 21 is stopped, the shaft 16 is pushed and restored with the repulsion of a spring 23. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
