PURPOSE: An annealing method of ferrite stainless steel strip for surface hardening by continuously forming martensite phase on the surface of ferrite stainless steel strip through surface scale control is provided. CONSTITUTION: The method includes step of annealing a ferritic stainless steel strip comprising 0.12 wt.% or less of C, 0.75 wt.% or less of Si, 1.0 wt.% or less of Mn, 0.040 wt.% or less of P, 0.030 wt.% or less of S, Cr 16.0-18.0 wt.%, balance Fe and incidental impurities at 800 to 850°C for 5 to 20 hours in oxidizing atmosphere.
