Selective reading of message written on message tape - uses curtain to cover window as message tape is driven by motor and checks message is correct before removing curtain

The message display has a tape (6) carrying different messages. The messages are visible in a window (5). To view another message a curtain (7) masks the window, and a motor drives the tape to a position that places the selected message behind the window. The tape is positioned by computing the number of messages separating the present message from the desired message to determine the operating time of the motor. The tape is stopped and the message behind the window identified. If it is not correct the tape is moved again until it is correct. The curtain is then removed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Rapid switching between messages for advertising displays or pictograms for roadside signals.
