PURPOSE: To improve mixture in a prechabmer, and to reduce NOx and also decrease the manufacturing cost for the prechamber by decreasing the capacity of the prechamber. CONSTITUTION: A prechamber is so constructed that an inclined part 18 for connecting the joint part 14 of the prechamber to the prechamber side wall part 16 has an angleβof inclination of 30 deg.C and over and less than 90 deg., preferably from 45 to 60 deg. both inclusive to the virtual extended part 16s of the side wall part 16, and also constructed so that the distance L between the joint part 14 of the prechamber and the top 16t of the prechamber is from 1.25 times to 3 times as large as the maximum diameter D of the cross section of the prechamber, preferably from 1.4 times to 1.6 times.
