PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hydroxyapatite spherical particles useful as a packing material into the dental root canals of man or animals, a packing material into the tooth extraction cavity and a vital material, such as a residual ridge rebuilding material and the vital material using the same. SOLUTION: An aq. phosphoric acid soln. is added to a suspension contg. the hydroxyapatite spherical particles of 0.5 to 200 μm in average grain size and 8 to 12 in pH value, when 1 g spherical particles are added to 25 g water and the soln. is stirred, and 1 to 20 wt.% calcium hydroxide in such a manner that the pH value attains 9 to 12. Amorphous calcium phosphate is synthesized while the temp. of this suspension is controlled so as not to exceed 50 deg.C. The resulted amorphous calcium phosphate is then granulated and dried to once obtain the amorphous calcium phosphate spherical particles of 0.5 to 200 μm in the average grain size and, thereafter, the spherical particles are fired at 800 to 1300 deg.C, by which the hydroxyapatite particles having excellent osteogenetic capability are produced. These hydroxyapatite spherical particles are utilized as the vital material. |
