PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device capable of efficiently cooling the inside of an image forming device, restraining noise in the device by shortening the driving time of a cooling fan and extending the life of the cooling fan. SOLUTION: This cooling device installed in the image forming device of a system in which an image is formed on recording material by an electrophotographic process and cooling the inside of the device is provided with at least the cooling fan 2 attached to either side of a device main body 1 near a fixing unit 3 as a cooling means and constituted to perform the normal rotation and reverse rotation repeating operation of the fan 2 in the case of rapidly cooling the unit 3 after image forming operation. Thus, the flow of air inside the device is switched to efficiently cool the fixing unit or the inside of the device and the driving time of the cooling fan is made shorter than in the conventional manner, so that the noise in the device is restrained, and the life of the fan is prolonged. |
